Aneesa tells Roni and David which are the objects that would best tell her personal queer story. Aneesa grew up in a creative Asian household. She now sings at Jazz and world music festivals around the world as one of the finest singers on the scene. And runs a number of choirs and projects in Brighton & Hove. In her interview Aneesa talks about being an Asian queer woman, finding comradery and friendship on the scene, and defining her unique self. Argus - What’s On - 30th May 2008 Dynamite Boogaloo @ Arc This was the relaunch of Dynamite Boogaloo at the Arc. We moved on from Audio where a combination of smoking ban, credit crunch and change in licensing laws meant our attendances took an absolute hammering. We struggled on for about a year at the Arc and then gave up. I was ready for a change anyway - so didn’t mind too much. The photo of Dolly Rocket was taken by by Russ Bell at the monthly Dynamite Boogaloo Saturday Seaside Special at Komedia.

YouTube had only just launched, and ladypat was an early adopter. He used flashpop software (which was also quite cutting-edge at the time) to create this video. He always described himself as an ‘undesigner’; as such his animations often have a crooked, wonky charm. The characters here were drawn and animated from images I had from photoshoots, club events and performances. It features The Incredible Tall Lady, Miss High Leg Kick and Dolly Rocket (with her exploding boobs)."

Boogaloo Stu shares the incredible stories behind his three submissions to the imaginary Queer Museum. Boogaloo Stu is a DJ, producer, maker, designer, artiste, and performer. He is the creator and the life of many of Brighton's best parties and events. In this interview Stu talks about Marilyn, the power of a DIY outfit, and a lifelong fascination with giant phalluses. Card game from Candy Bar Candy Bar was a lesbian bar that ran from 2000-2004 and was situated in St James Street, Brighton. Cards include instructions and game on one side, the other detailing regular events happening in Candy Bar in Brighton as well as its sister location in Soho London (1996-2014).

The event that this flyer refers to was the launch of The Dyke Collective manifesto on the 24th April 2025, held at Dyke Night, a weekly queer social event at The Actors pub, Brighton. The Brighton Dyke Collective participated in a manifesto-writing workshop with Exploding Appendix in early 2024, and the manifesto was created as a group effort to set the tone for the Collective's future. The event included dykey activities and performances to spread the word that inclusive political action is taking place within the community. Bringing the manifesto launch to this space directly politicised it. The event was designed to celebrate dyke culture with performances, an arm wrestling station, and a table for Queers for Palestine, selling copies of the DC manifesto as part of the regular fundraising effort at the Actors. The manifesto is central to the collective and has inspired lots of dykes to get involved. The DC put these posters all around town, in The Queery, at the Universities, pubs, coffee shops, and bars. The event was a great night, with our Chair MCing, poetry from local dyke poets, music, and a reading of our manifesto to finish the night, read by members of the collective.

Dykes on Decks is an underground electronic music event created in 2022. The event platforms new queer DJs, giving them an opportunity to play their first DJ set out in a club in a supportive, fun and somewhat chaotic environment.
